This year’s summer reading program will kick off on June 20 at 1:00 pm with an event at the library, located at 351 NW Tracy Ave. The theme for 2026 is “Beat the Heat”, an homage to the origins of the library building and honoring the former Tracyton Volunteer Fire Department members. Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue will have a fire truck at the event so guests can "Touch a Truck." Refreshments will be served by volunteers. Each participant will commit to reading ten books over the summer and if successful, will turn in their book list for a certificate of completion and a free book. The program ends on August 30, and participants have until September 5 to turn in their list. The program is open to readers of any age. Pre-readers can have the ten books read to them by an adult.
